Inside CID's Cloud Transformation with Kubermatic

CID GmbH replaced manually managed, per-environment Kubernetes clusters with the Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform (KKP) and KubeLB, Kubermatic’s cloud-agnostic load balancer. The move standardized cluster operations across development and production and freed engineering time for product work instead of infrastructure upkeep. At CDS25, Rouven Loerch, General Manager at CID GmbH, shared how the transformation took shape.

The Challenge

Inconsistent Kubernetes Clusters Across Development and Production

Before adopting KKP, CID managed Kubernetes clusters for its development and production environments individually. That increased operational complexity and made cluster configuration and load balancing inconsistent across environments, adding manual work every time infrastructure needed to change.

The Solution

One Platform for Cluster Lifecycle and Load Balancing

CID adopted the Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform to unify cluster lifecycle management across environments, and added KubeLB to standardize load balancing across clusters and infrastructures without per-environment reconfiguration. With KKP and KubeLB working together, CID’s teams now manage cluster operations from a single platform instead of per-environment tooling.

The Results

Faster, More Consistent Operations Across Environments

  • Cluster management standardized on KKP across CID’s development and production environments
  • KubeLB replaced inconsistent, per-environment load-balancer configuration with one consistent setup across clusters and infrastructures
  • Faster, more resilient service delivery, with less manual infrastructure maintenance
  • Development teams spend more time on product innovation and less time on operations

People [at Kubermatic] are very motivated, very passionate, and very invested in the project. They are looking for the best result for the customer, and that is not standard in IT. That's what we really liked in working with Kubermatic.
